Lens Helicoid Grease
High performance grease for lens helicoid rebuild. Extremely wide -60F to 600F temperature range due to its molecules are uniform. Stable in the long term. No break down. No separation (ordinary grease will have lighter oil separated. The lighter oil will creep onto aperture blades to cause stuck/sluggish aperture, and will evaporate and condense onto internal glass surfaces to form oil haze).
Contains PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) for superb smoothness. When used for helicoid rebuilding, creates the buttery smooth focus action with desirable resistance. This grease has approx NLGI consistency #1 (the ordinary greases found at most automotive parts stores are NLGI #2 - too thick for helicoid. Don't use such grease.)
Compatible with virtually all materials seen in lens helicoids (aluminum, brass and plastic - yes don't been surprised, many newer and/or entry level lenses have plastic helicoid).
Water/saltwater resistant (greases with similar feature are often marketed as "marine grade" by the lubricant industry). While you don't submerge the lens like a boat trailer, water does get into helicoid when there is splash, due to the non-sealed design of most manual focus lenses.
This is the grease we have been using for helicoid rebuild for years - we know this is the best grease available today. Proven excellent working grease for helicoid rebuild.
Amount: Choose from 8g (in small white plastic can approx. 1 1/4" across, 5/8" high) or 18g (in small white plastic can approx. 1 3/4" across, 3/4" high).
8g doesn't sound a lot but you want to use it sparingly - it is enough to service a dozen or two lenses.
A simple instructional note will be included in the shipping.
Note this grease is suitable for manual focus lenses, not for auto focus lenses.
